Matching and Deduplication Overview

Find and assess duplicate contacts and companies already in HubSpot

Overview

Matching and Deduplication in app.furball.tech helps teams find and assess duplicate contacts and companies already in HubSpot.

Review candidate groups, compare their records and decide which should be accepted for merging. Matching evidence supports that decision; it does not replace your understanding of the business.

What this helps you understand

  • Which records may represent the same person or company.
  • How strong the available matching evidence is.
  • Which groups remain unreviewed, accepted, rejected or marked merged.
  • Which record should be the primary record if a group is merged.

Confidence scores help prioritise review. They are not a guarantee of identity or a statistical probability that merging is safe.

Why it matters

Duplicate records split customer context, create repeated outreach and weaken reporting. They can also complicate integrations when several records compete for the same identity.

Not every similar record is a duplicate. Subsidiaries, shared contact details and reused company names may represent genuinely different entities.

How to use it

  1. Select the correct portal and open contact or company deduplication.
  2. Choose a review state and use search or the confidence range to narrow the investigation.
  3. Compare the records and their important properties.
  4. Accept genuine duplicate groups or reject unsuitable candidates.
  5. Review the accepted groups before using the separate merge action.

Keep automatic merging off until your team has assessed the matching rules and the consequences for its records and integrations.

Import matching is different

Data Ingestion Studio checks incoming data against the CRM before delivery. It is not a replacement for reviewing and merging duplicate records already in HubSpot. Use both workflows when you need to repair existing data and improve future ingestion.

What to do next

Read Review Duplicates and Merge Accepted Records before making changes. Use Configure Duplicate Matching and Automation when your business needs different matching evidence or primary-record preferences.
